    Patient Shoots Dead Nurse Attending To Him At Nairobi’s Chiromo Lane Medical Center

    A patient at the Chiromo lane medical center has shot dead a nurse under unclear circumstances.

    The patient, a licensed gun holder insisted to retain his gun past the hospital security.

    He is said to be mentally unstable shot the nurse as she was attending to him.

    A family friend to the deceased nurse asked why he was allowed to have the firearm within the hospital.

    “Why did they allow him to go inside with a gun?”Christopher Gisiri, family friend to the deceased asked.

    The patient was arrested and is in police custody for murder.  Nairobi police chief Japheth Koome said that the matter is under investigation to establish the reason behind the shooting.

    Mental illness is a reality that Kenyans have refused to embrace yet it continues to be a cause of death that is always ignored.

    The number of suicides and death caused to other people by people suffering from mental illness has become rampant and is an issue that should be addressed.
