    Private Security Guards To Have Guns From July, Matiang’i Says

    Security guards from authorized companies will soon be able to use guns in order to assist the police to fight crime. This is according to a proposal by the CS interior Fred Matiang’i that has been approved.

    Fred Matiang’i said that his ministry were the process of creating a data base for all guards so that all their activities may be coordinated. He said that the guards will be issued with new uniforms and identity cards for ease in identification.

    The CS said that the companies that hire the guards would be responsible for the weapons they give to them and that they would be punished if the weapons were misused.

    The government said that they would retrieve their police officers from the Cash In Transit business  where police usually offer security due to the amount of money they transport.

    The companies will also be responsible for the training of the guards on on the use of guns, companies that fail to comply with the regulations ill have their licenses.
