Raila Odinga Junior is fully behind Senior Counsel James Orengo’s ouster motion against Deputy President William Ruto.

Taking to Twitter, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s son said the minority senate leader has every right to bring a “motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan.”

He does not have to be acting on behalf of his party, ODM, he said.

“Senior Counsel James Orengo is within his right to bring a motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan can do, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a position of his party ODM,” he wrote on Twitter.

On Sunday, Orengo while addressing the people of Ugenya said that the senate together with the National Assembly, want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office.

The DP, he said has been in the middle of every graft case.

In the meantime, some Jubilee MPs are pushing for a Parliamentary Group meeting ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address on April 4.

This was after some anti-Ruto legislators rallied behind Orengo’s removal bid of Ruto as well as widening rifts within the ruling party.

“From our end, we have done request. I agree there is a feeling that a parliamentary group meeting is necessary to cool political temperatures,” National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali told a local daily.

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and one of Ruto’s close allies on his part said that a PG meeting is long over due.

“I appeal to the President that he should call us for a meeting to deal with burning issues in our minds. Jubilee is burning and we can’t sit back and watch,” he told the daily.

The head of state is said to have paid his deputy an impromptu visit at his Annex Harambee House office.

It is not clear what the two Jubilee party leaders discussed but last week while on a visit to Namibia, Uhuru maintained that no one, not even his sister, brother or close political ally will be spared in the fight against graft.

The “closest ally” many said was code for the DP who has accused DCI George Kinoti of targeting him in the corruption war.
