A rider whose body was found under a bed in a short stay room in South B estate was hit in the head by a blunt object that caused his death, an autopsy says.
Anthony Otieno Olwal was also suffocated in the November 18, 2025 drama.
Police are now hunting for two men linked to the murder of the delivery rider.
The men are believed to have bludgeoned Otieno at the apartment after a quarrel over the payment of his delivery fee.
He had delivered an Iphone 17 mobile phone on November 18, 2025 morning to the room when the argument broke out.
Otieno was working as an online delivery agent at the time of his death.
The incident happened at an apartment along Sonia Lane at Meridian Court.
The body of Otieno, a father of three was found under a bed minutes after his murder. He had come to the scene on his motorcycle.
The owner of the room on the fourth floor of the building told police she received a call from a man who said he wanted to book it for a month at Sh2,500 a day.
The caller also promised to clear the bill on the same day. Two men came and paid the day’s fee.
The owner said she went to check on the occupants later in the day when she met one of the men on the doorstep. She wanted the man who booked to pay as promised and insisted they will pay the fee.
Few minutes later, according to the woman, she saw the two men leaving while carrying their luggage.
She raised an alarm and took control of the bag as she rushed to the room where she found it with blood stains.
The body of Otieno was under the bed.
Police were called to the scene and managed to identify the man.
His hands and legs had been tied and blood was oozing from the nose and mouth. His mouth had been covered with a piece of cloth, police said.
Police suspect the man was tortured to death. His motorcycle was found parked outside the building. The assailants had escaped the scene.
According to his family, Otieno had been in contact with them shortly before going to deliver a phone, but became unreachable soon after.
“He came around 9 a.m. and left with the package at about 10:30 a.m. By noon, we could not reach him,” said his brother, Isaiah Ochieng.
His wife, Eunice Atieno, gave a similar account.
“The last time I called him was around 10:30 a.m. He told me he had just arrived at the client’s house and would call me later. After that, I don’t know what happened.”
Otieno was delivering an iPhone ordered via WhatsApp by a client in Eldoret, who had requested it be delivered to a relative in South B.
When the family could not reach him on either of his two phones, they reportedly attempted to contact the client, who was also unreachable.
Detectives reported that the phone Otieno was delivering was found at the scene, along with a knife and a metal rod suspected to have been used in the assault.
Otieno’s death rekindles previous similar cases in Nairobi involving short-stay rental apartments.
In January 2024, the body of socialite Starlet Wahu was discovered in a South B apartment. The prime suspect John Matara, captured on CCTV entering the building with her, was later arrested and charged.
Ten days later, the dismembered body of 20-year-old university student Rita Waeni was found in a rental unit in Roysambu.
