Detectives are investigating the discovery of the body of a senior police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Ololilai, Kajiado County.

The decomposing body of Chief Inspector Dennis Kwena Ayoma was found on Thursday, November 13, 2025 found in his one-roomed house in Majengo area of Namanga Town.

It is not clear when he died and what caused his death, police said.

Neighbours had complained of a bad smell emanating from the house before they went to check the source of the same.

It was then that they found the body lying naked on bed. It is believed the officer died on Monday. He was last seen in the area on Sunday evening. He had also taken a short leave and was to resume duties on November 16, 2025, police said.

Police who were called to the scene said the time and cause of death are yet to be ascertained.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Meanwhile, a police officer lost his firearm after forgetting it in a toilet at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The officer said he was deployed at the international departure section on November 13 and had excused himself for a long call when the incident happened.

He went to the toilet and relieved himself after placing his Jericho pistol loaded with 15 bullets on a cistern.

After his mission, he left and forgot it there until two hour later when he realized the weapon was missing from its holster.

A search in the area did not bear any fruits. Police said they are investigating the incident and will review security cameras as part of the probe into the same.

In Malaba, Busia County, a licensed gun holder was disarmed by his brothers in an altercation over land. The weapon, a Ceska with 16 bullets, was later handed over to the local chief and police.

Police said they are investigating the drama and that the weapon was kept in safe custody.
