There were plans to record Sharon Otieno and Migori Governor Okoth Obado having sex, Helen Obado told detectives.
Ms Obado while recording her statement with the DCI officers, the Star reports, said that a man unknown to her called informing her of the plot that was to take place at Imperial Hotel in Kisumu.
She denied knowing the man who only identified himself as a friend of the family. He told her that Sharon was booked in the hotel, prompting her to reach out to her husband about the alleged ploy.
The governor, she told the sleuths, was at a devolution conference and was staying at Acacia Premier Hotel. The county chief denied the allegations.
The Migori county first lady then confronted her husband about the rumours going round about Obado seeking for a second wife. But it was only in May this year that he (Obado) came clean about the affair.
“I asked him if he was planning to marry Sharon as a second wife. I told him that I honestly preferred he married instead of having affairs. He told me he had no such plans and that he had ended the relationship with the said girl,” Hellen’s statement reads in part.
She then saw a text message from the 26 year old mother of three who is set to be laid to rest on October 18, in July while attending their son’s graduation.
After jetting back, the couple sat down with their kids, informing them about their supposed sibling.
She also said that Obado who has since been admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital after being remanded at the Industrial Area Prison, was in Nairobi on the day that Sharon and Nation Journalist Barrack Oduor were abducted.

Involved in the abduction was the governor’s personal assistant, Michael Oyamo, an ex-military man, who she admitted knowing but does not “relate to him outside his official duties.”
Ms Obado also noted that she did not have the deceased’s phone number at the time of her death.
Governor Obado will be arraigned in court on October 8 for his bail hearing.
