A suspect bite and seriously injured a police officer during an arrest mission in a village in Mbooni, Makueni County.

The police had on Monday August 25 gone to a home in Masaka village seeking to arrest a suspect wanted for housebreaking when the confrontation broke out.

In the process, some family members joined and tried to obstruct the team from arresting the suspect.

It was then that constable Dominic Langat was bitten in the right hand palm and seriously wounded. His colleagues rushed to his rescue and subdued the wanted suspect before arresting him.

The police officer went to Kathulumbi Health Center where was given fast aid and later referred to Wote County Teaching and Referral hospital for specialized treatment while in stable condition.

Meanwhile, police in Mayenya, Kisumu County are investigating the lynching of a suspect along Rabuor-Chiga Road.

The suspect was identified as Tyson Ondiek, 25 who had been linked to a series of robberies in the area.

He was also linked to the murder of a man in the Omungi area and was a jailbird, police said.

A mob confronted and stoned him to death before setting his body on fire, police said.

The body was later picked up to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects be surrendered for processing and prosecution.

Police say they have intensified operations in several parts of the country to address crime incidents. This has led to the arrest and prosecution of dozens of suspects on a daily basis. The cases are pending before several courts, police said.
