A domestic dispute turned deadly in Kisii County after an 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed his elder brother to death during a confrontation at their home in Riagumo village.

According to police, the incident was reported at around 7:50pm on May 1 at Moticho Police Station.

Police visited the scene in Riagumo village and said preliminary investigations established that the deceased, identified as Simon Oyaro Moi, 20, was at home with his younger brothers when a dispute erupted over long-standing family disagreements.

Police said one of the brothers allegedly ran into the house during the altercation, armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed Simon twice on the left side of the neck and chest, inflicting deep wounds.

Well-wishers rushed the victim to Domiline Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators recovered several items from the scene, including the deceased’s blood-stained clothing and a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack.

The body was later moved to Tabaka Mission Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

The suspect is currently in police custody at Etago Police Station as investigations continue.

Elsewhere, police in Nakuru County launched investigations into the death of a 71-year-old man initially reported as a suicide at his home in Molo Sub-county.

At the scene, the lifeless body of Peter Muriithi Gitau was found hanging from a sisal rope inside a bedroom.

However, preliminary observations have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police noted that the deceased’s legs were firmly positioned on the bed, with no visible signs of struggle or strain typically associated with hanging. No external injuries were observed, and no suicide note was recovered.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary.

Authorities say a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death as investigations continue.
