Three suspects were arrested over the murder of a woman initially claimed to have died by suicide in a village in Kehancha, Migori County.

The police revised the earlier suicide report to a murder case following postmortem findings.

Authorities indicated that a postmortem conducted on the body of Davine Kwamboka revealed she died from a head injury caused by blunt force trauma.

The case had initially been reported as a suicide and gender-based violence incident under.

However, the new medical findings have confirmed that the death was a result of homicide, prompting police to amend the records accordingly.

Investigators have since taken three suspects into custody. The suspects are currently being held under a miscellaneous application and are expected to be arraigned at Kehancha Law Courts on April 1, 2026, where they will face murder charges.

Authorities say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.

Domestic murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.

Elsewhere, police in Machakos County are investigating the sudden death of a 40-year-old man in Athi River East Sub-County.

According to the police, the incident was reported by the wife of the deceased, Anthony Muchiri Wanyoike.

The report indicates that on March 19, 2026, at around 7:00 p.m., the deceased had gone to the rooftop of his apartment at Kamulu Fanaka Estate to exercise.

While downstairs, his wife heard a loud noise from the rooftop. Responding at around 7:30 p.m., she discovered him lying unresponsive in a pool of blood, with a broken pillar resting on his lower abdomen. She screamed for help, and neighbours rushed to the scene.

Police officers responded and noted that the deceased was found some distance from the point of impact and wrapped in beige and chocolate-coloured bed covers.

Visible injuries included trauma to the head with blood oozing from the mouth, nose, and ears.

The body was later moved to KU Funeral Home, where it is awaiting post-mortem examination.
