Thugs on Thursday broke into Homa Bay Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo’s office and sprayed it with what police believe is livestock pesticide.

The unidentified people also broke furniture which she purchased on Tuesday after others were vandalized.

According to the police at the scene of incident, the chemical sprayed in Ms Ayoo’s office is Triatix which if consumed can kill in minutes.

The chemical, officers said, is used to control pests on livestock.

The embattled speaker on her part accused the assembly security guards of not taking their work seriously.

“The assembly premises is surrounded by guards and police officers. I do not know why they don’t report destruction cases within the House,” she said.

MCAs accompanying her; Kwabwai Ward MCA Richard Ogindo and Kanyamwa Kosewe’s Nicholas Owaka said the act was an assassination attempt.

Ms Ayoo was in October assaulted by a male ward representative, Kakelo Kokwanyo MCA, Dan Were with a chair for changing list of new office holders.

She was on November 1 impeached and later reinstated. Justice James Rika in his ruling barred MCAs and the county public service board from appointing any other person as speaker until the case is determined.

The case will be mentioned before Justice Nderi Nduma of the Employment and Labour Relations Court on December 4.
