Police are investigating an incident where a one-and-a-half-year-old boy died in a family borehole in a village in Kituli, Bungoma County.

The boy was missing from the house before he was traced to a neighbour’s borehole. He had drowned therein, police said.

It is not clear how he strayed to the well where he drowned, police said. The body was retrieved and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

The parents of the child said he was playing outside their home when he strayed to the neighbour’s house where the incident happened on Wednesday evening.

In Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, a woman aged 80 was found dead in her house.

The incident happened in Sacho village on Wednesday afternoon. A curious neighbour said he had not seen the woman identified as Melda Nafula Musugutu for the better part of the day, which was unusual. This prompted him to go check on her at her house when he stumbled on her naked body lying on the floor.

Police were called to the scene and processed it before moving the body to the mortuary.

Police said they are investigating the death.

Meanwhile, police in Marani, Kisii County are looking for a gang of five that was armed with an AK47 rifle and who attacked a couple in a robbery incident.

The gunmen raided the home and terrorized the couple before shooting to the air three times and escaped. The couple was seriously wounded in the drama on Wednesday night. The motive of the attack in Metembe village is yet to be known.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital in a stable condition, police said.

And police said they arrested two suspects linked to a series of robberies in the Olekasasi area, Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

Locals had complained of increased robberies prompting police operations.

Police said they have intensified operations in the area to address the menace.
