A 24-year-old woman was found dead in her house after she had been electrocuted by a water heater in Mathare slums, Nairobi.

Police said the body of Sarah Mbiki Mutinfa was found next to the water heater on Sunday March 2 night long after the electrocution.

It is suspected she had tried to boil water using the gadget when she was electrocuted.

The woman was alone in the house and when her parents tried to reach her she could not respond to the calls.

This prompted her father to visit the house where he found it locked from inside. He alerted the neighbours who helped in breaking in where the body was found lying.

Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy died after falling from a mango tree in Migwani, Kitui County.

Police said the boy had climbed the tree to harvest fruits when slipped and fell to the ground. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said he had sustained serious back and head injuries.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy. And a 20-year-old man was found dead after he had been stabbed by an assailant in a fight in Mkuru slums, Nairobi.

Police said Ramadhan Shaban was stabbed in a confrontation by a man known to him. The motive of the attack is yet to be established, police said of the Sunday night incident.

The said assailant was later arrested pending probe and possible arraignment with murder.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Cases of stabbing are on the rise in informal settlements amid calls for action to address the trend. Some of the incidents leave victims with serious injuries, while others are fatal.
