A 28-year-old woman was found dead in a residential house in Muguru Ward, Kangema, Murang’a County, in a suspected murder incident.
The deceased, identified as Wincate Murugi Nchoki, was discovered lying lifeless on a sofa at her home.
Police officers visited the scene and observed physical swellings around the woman’s eyes, a cut on her right hand and blood oozing from her nostrils.
During the operation, police also rescued the deceased’s one-year-old daughter, who was found on the same sofa with her mother.
The child was taken to Koimbi Children’s Home for care and protection.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased had been living with a man, and that the two had reportedly been experiencing domestic problems.
Witnesses allegedly told police that the man had been heard beating his girlfriend the previous night.
Police and witnesses said he fled on Monday morning after the death came to light.
The suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown, and police have commenced efforts to trace him.
The scene was processed and documented by Scenes of Crime personnel from Murang’a before the body was moved to Kangema Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
And a 42-year-old man was found dead in his house with visible head injuries in Mbogani area, Koinange, South Kinangop, Nyandarua County.
Police said the suspected murder occurred on Monday, September 14, 2026 at approximately 8 p.m. in the same area.
Officers who visited the scene found the deceased, identified as Samwel Waithaka Wanyoike, a Kikuyu male adult, lying dead on a seat inside his house.
According to the police, the victim had visible physical injuries to the head, with blood oozing from the wounds.
The deceased’s brother reportedly told police that Wanyoike had been seen entering his house accompanied by a man who was identified as a person of interest in the investigation and was reported to be at large.
The body was removed to Engineer County Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination and further police action.
