Detectives were on Wednesday pursuing a suspect in the murder of a 28-year-old woman whose body was found lying in a room in Moiben’s Chepkanga area, Uasin Gishu County.
The suspected assailant was said to be her brother. Police said they suspect the two had quarreled over family business. The body of Phanice Malel was found lying on a bed with foam and blood oozing from her mouth.
The alleged assailant had earlier called a relative to claim he had killed the sister on December 15, 2025.
Police said the body did not have any physical injuries then. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and hunt on the suspected assailant, police said.
Elsewhere in Cheptiret, Keses, Uasin Gishu County, a man was stabbed to death in a suspected love triangle saga.
The deceased was identified as Abel Kipkemboi, 24.
He had argued with another man in the area over a woman before the assailant picked up a kitchen knife that he used to stab him in the elbow and right side of the back, fatally.
Witnesses said the assailant was upset after the deceased and some other locals started to abuse and harass his girlfriend. He picked a knife that a mango seller was using that he used to attack Kipkemboi in an altercation.
The kitchen knife was found at the scene and kept as an exhibit, police said.
A mob later descended on the said assailant and started to stone him before police were alerted and saved him.
He was detained in hospital with serious injuries. The body of the man was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the December 15 incident.
