Detectives are investigating an incident where the body of a 30-year-old woman was found on a chair after her murder in Bonyunyu village, Nyamira County.

A relative found the body of Agnes Moraa Monda in her house long after she had been killed on September 29, 2025.

The body was found on a chair with injuries around her neck.

The husband to the slain woman later surrendered to the Mokomoni police post where he was arrested and detained. He said he feared the villagers would kill him.

He told police he and the woman had quarreled before the same went bad.

The woman’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further processing.

Such murder incidents at homes have been on the rise in the past months amid calls for parties to solve their differences amicably.

Police link the same to love triangles. Most of the cases are pending in courts while others have been solved, police said.

Elsewhere in Musengo, Kitui County’s Kakumuti area, one Mutemi Katila, 60 was found murdered and the body abandoned near a bridge.

The body was found with a deep cut on the right side of the neck suspected to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

And a man was lynched by a mob in a failed robbery incident in Ruai, Nairobi.

The victim was said to be among a group of four that was attacking and robbing locals when an alarm was raised. This alerted a mob who attacked and killed him.

Police said the man was later identified as a tout working in the area. Locals had complained of persistent attacks by gangs who target their mobile phones and cash early in the morning and late in the evening.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects be surrendered to authorities for processing.
