    Worker killed at cabro making factory in Kwale

    Police are investigating an incident where a worker died after being struck by a machine used to make cabros at the Devki Steel Mill Company in Kwale County.

    Police said Kitsao Charo, 38 was at the Cabro processing unit at the firm when the incident happened on January 28, 2026.

    He was hit in the head while cleaning the pressing surface area and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police and his colleagues said.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

    In Oyugis area, Homa Bay County, a suspect was hacked in the head and killed in a robbery incident.

    The suspect is said to have been in the company of four others and had attacked a man to rob him when he turned on him with an axe.

    The businessman said the attackers were armed with a panga and knives in the attack and that they robbed him of Sh30,000 at his butchery. He grabbed an axe that he used to hit one of the suspects killing him.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

    Meanwhile, police in Matayos, Busia County are investigating an incident where a girl aged eight died after being beaten up over claims she stole Sh1000 from her mother’s bag.

    The assailants are her siblings. Police said the girl was a grade three pupil at Tumaini Academy.

    The siblings aged 19 and 23 were arrested for grilling over the death.

    Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

    In Subukia, Nakuru County, a 44-year-old man died after being assaulted in an altercation. Police said they are investigating murder in the incident and that the body of Joseph Mutua was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    In Gambogi, Vihiga County, one Bernard Simwa, 45 died after being hit in the head by an iron bar in an altercation.

    The man sustained a deep cut in the head and bled to death in hospital, police said.

    It is not clear what triggered the fight between the two. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as the suspect was arrested.
