Former IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has responded to Roselyne Akombe regarding claims that slain ICT boss Chris Msando was led “to the slaughterhouse” by commission insiders.

In a short email, Chiloba who was kicked out of the commission unceremoniously following the chaotic 2017 elections, fired a warning shot across Akombe’s bow saying, “Do not attempt to rewrite history, our silence is not your license.”

On 29 July, I said I will testify at an independent judicial inquest into the murder of my colleague Chris.

I received this email from @EzraCHILOBA, former CEO @IEBCKenya.

It confirms my call for an inquiry. Kenyans deserve the truth. I owe it to you.#JusticeforChrisMsando pic.twitter.com/rHJbXZXfDy

While marking the third anniversary since Msando was found brutally murdered, Akombe stated that she was ready to testify in an inquiry into the former IEBC ICT boss’ murder.

She called on the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi to take up the matter due to public interest.

“On this anniversary of my colleague Msando’s murder, could you take this case up in the public’s interest? As I have said in the past, I am ready to testify,” she wrote on Twitter.

Msando had promised he would ensure the IEBC tech system in the 2017 elections was foolproof. President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory was later nullified by the Supreme Court citing irregularities in the process. He won, however, in a repeat election.

It’s alleged that Msando was killed to create room for selfish leaders to bungle the elections.

Following the tension that ensued after the elections, Akombe fled the country for the United States (US) and submitted her resignation.

She claimed that the institution was filled with massive corruption that would hinder the delivery of credible repeat elections.

Although Akombe has never openly revealed why she fled the country she has claimed on several occasions that she had been intimidated and told the BBC that her brother had received death threats in regards to her position in the institution.

“I have never felt the kind of fear that I felt in my own country,” she stated during an interview.

She further insisted that the death threats were anonymous mostly from political actors and protesters.
