The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has confirmed the completion of the first phase of Grade 10 textbook distribution across the country.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, KICD Chief Executive Officer Charles O. Ong’ondo informed all senior school principals that the initial rollout was conducted using enrolment data provided by the Ministry of Education.

According to the statement, the institute is now seeking to verify updated Grade 10 enrolment figures in all public senior schools by the end of the first term. The data will include the number of learners enrolled per subject.

“This will inform the second phase of distribution of Grade 10 textbooks in order to ensure that all learners have received textbooks in all subjects on a one-to-one ratio as per government policy,” the notice stated.

School principals have been directed to submit current enrolment data by subject, as well as details on textbooks received for each subject, through an official submission link provided by KICD.

The institute has also urged schools that are yet to receive textbooks, require additional support, or have surplus copies to reach out via the designated communication channels.

The deadline for submission of the required data has been set for April 10, 2026.
