Kenya’s Harambee Stars manager Sebastien Migne met with Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama Wednesday in London ahead of back to back Afcon 2019 qualifiers against Ethiopia.

Wanyama, who is the Stars’ captain is among 21 players the Frenchman summoned for the national duty despite failing honor a previous call up.

The midfielder did not show up for last month’s crunch tie against Ghana in the qualifiers which Kenya narrowly won 1-0 at the Kasarani Stadium as he remained behind to continue with his rehabilitation after along injury layoff.

Migne alluded to unprofessional-ism on the part of the former Celtic player for declining the call up, saying he should have just come so that national team’s medical team could also assess him.

“Wanyama should have travelled to Kenya so that our medical staff can assess his injury. We should be a bit professional in such situations,” he was quoted then.

The ex-Congo coach has since clarified that he needed his captain around for such a big match and that he has nothing against him.

“My feeling was not against Victor, we need to be clear because he is my captain and the best player in the country.

Before Ghana it would have been interesting to have your captain at least one or two days with the team to share the spirit and for motivation.”

Wanyama earned his first start for Spurs Wednesday night in Carabao Cup against Watford but did not last the whole length of the game they won 4-2.
