    Linda Mwiti and Winnie Karani admire the RM Slate at the Microsoft Stand

    We were in Mombasa covering the KEPSHA confrence and we were just looking out  for cool ideas out there. Not much happens techwise among our teachers who are mostly tech illiterate. But we did not fail to notice some products among some of the exhibitors and sponsors.

    We spotted Mark Matunga of Microsoft enjoying work on the RM slate. We asked for a test drive and for a basic user, we think that this is a good bet. And running the Windows 7, we think that it might just be very well taken up locally.

    The RM Slate is a  high quality device built on the chassis of the Zoostorm’s SL8 device. The device we hear was many focused on the educational clientele. The features are impressive though some of which are;

    • Intel Atom 1.6 GHz (Pineview-M N450)
    • 2GB DDR2 800Hz Ram
    • 32GB SSD
    • Windows 7 Home Premium Edition
    • 11.6″ 1366×768 Display
    • Capactive Multi-Touch Display
    • Bluetooth
    • 802.11 b\g\n Wireless
    • mini HDMI
    • 2 USB Ports
    • SD Card Slot
    • Sim Slot
    • Weight 995 Grams
    We are not sure if Microsoft gave all their employees the tablet but a good number of them have the Windows Tablets.
