City Lawyer, Ahmednasir Adullahi faced backlash after he posted a photo comparing Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti and Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho’s dress code.
The lawyer commented that Governor Awiti’s dress code does not give people hope or inspire confidence in him.
“If one cannot dress decently as a private matter, he cannot manage the public affairs of a county.” Ahmednasir added.
This post did not sit well with netizens and they were quick to rush to the defence of the Governor.

“Such a nonsensical tweet about a person’s fashion choices. The people of Homa Bay did not elect him for his clothes; neither does the more trendy 001 Governor deliver better results on account of his attire. This is childish & unmerited attack,” one user commented.
Even former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga came to the Governor’s defense commenting, “Governor Awiti is polite and humble. He’s a man of the people.”
Here’s some of the tweets from the post:
This is a very myopic argument. We have seen well-dressed governers who are not performing. What has Joho delivered to his electorates, for instance? It is important to dress well but believe me most of Awiti’s electorates don’t care about his attire

He is my governor. Many advice on his dressence has gone unheeded. The guy was just not born with it!

Whereas someone’s sense of fashion/style does not reflect on delivery, that of Awiti is wanting. @DanielM69044010 .

In as much as I agree HE Governor Awiti should dress better, it’s totally unrelated to how he Governs. One day wardrobe malfunction cannot be used as performance bench mark. I remember Hon Michuki one day wore a torn pair of socks, did this change our perception? Never.
