Equity Bank has refunded a customer who on Tuesday lost their life savings under unclear circumstances. Asnael Moturi, aired her grievances through her son only identified as Cerebral Assassin on Twitter. The mother of three lost Sh900,000 a day after registering an Equitel SIM card at Equity Bank, Kisii Branch. Vincent Mbindo Kathumo, a lecturer in the Department of Land Resource Management and Agriculture Technology (LARMAT) specialising in Soil Science, Remote Sensing and Geo-Information Systems, asked Duncan Kibet for a Sh3,000 bribe over an examination irregularity. The lawyer was barred from accessing the premises following his suspension from the party over allegations of financial impropriety and lack of transparency to party members. A housewife residing in Kitengela was on Tuesday beaten into a pulp by a house agency employee over rent arrears. The woman, Pauline Achieng’ was beaten by an agent for Danco Apartments over what she claimed was some Sh13,000. Her husband, James Muturi, has been unable to clear the outstanding amount dating back to April due to the financial constraints occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Sh13,000 they are asking for accrued when businesses went down following the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. Supermarket chain Tuskys has 45 days to pay its suppliers some Sh248 million or risk liquidation. In case filed by electronics dealer Hotpoint and supported by 12 other creditors, the cash-strapped retailer asked for 45 to 60 days to come up with a payment plan. “Shareholders have been meeting to approve the injection of capital to rescue the business. A special audit by the Auditor General Nancy Gathangu tabled before a Senate committee revealed that the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) management colluded with companies that won the lucrative tenders. The auditor noted that some of the companies were established between January and February this year. Tuskys employees on Wednesday staged protests in the Central Business District (CBD) over delayed pay. According to the former employees who were fired recently accused the struggling retailer of giving them post-dated cheques. “Pay us our money, pay us our money! Salaries!
