The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) Chairman John Konchella has announced the immediate closure of Mara Ngenche Camp built within the Mara River, pending an environmental assessment. According to NEMA, four other tents within the camp were found to have gone against rules as outlined by the authority. The High Court on Thursday directed the Director of Public Prosecutions to furnish the family of the late Yassin Moyo with trial documents. The victim’s lawyer Demus Kiprono complained that the DPP and IPOA are yet to furnish them with documents that form part of the case. County operations will stall starting Thursday, Council of Governors (CoG) chairman Wycliffe Oparanya has said. In a statement, the Kakamega governor said that health facilities will not admit any new patients from tomorrow. “They will only provide minimal outpatient services,” he said. Further, the CoG chair has suspended all non-essential services and has sent all county workers on a two-week leave. Tanzania has lifted a ban disallowing Kenyan airlines into the country effective immediately. This was after Kenya added the East African country to the list of countries whose citizens were exempted from the 14 day mandatory quarantine period. The country joined 146 other countries on Tuesday after the list was reviewed. In August, Tanzania banned three more Kenyan airlines from flying into the country over the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the last 24 hours, Kenya has recorded 96 Covid-19 cases from 3,270 samples, bringing the total number of positive cases to 36,301. Of the new cases, all are Kenyans except 4 who are foreigners. They are aged between 5 and 81 years. Gender-wise, 70 are males while 26 are females, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said during the daily Covid-19 briefing. Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu wants the DCI to investigate political leaders who use ‘ambiguous political’ terms that could fan violence ahead of the 2022 general elections. Garissa governor Ali Korane has been released on a Sh3.25 million cash bail or Sh5 million bond. The county boss was on Tuesday charged with misappropriation of Sh233 million World Bank grants while appearing before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti.
