A Sudanese Army General imposter was on Friday nabbed by DCI sleuths from the Serious Crimes Unit within Westlands, Nairobi. Kenya on Saturday recorded 176 new Covid-19 cases from 4,115 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s caseload to 35,969. Since March, Kenya has carried out 494,560 tests. All the new cases were Kenyans except 5 cases from foreigners. 132 were males while 44 were females. The youngest cases was a three-month-old infant and the oldest was aged 78. In a statement, Health CS Mutahi announced 329 recoveries; 43 were on home-based care and 286 in various hospitals. This brings the number of recoveries to 22,771. Kapseret residents on Friday night barricaded roads leading to their MP, Oscar Sudi’s home. They were trying to block police officers from accessing the lawmaker’s home. Kevin Omwenga’s alleged killers; Chris Obure and his bodyguard Robert Bodo Ouko have been released on Sh50,000 cash bail. Obure has been charged with the offense of failing to secure his firearm while Ouko was separately charged with a count of being in possession of a firearm without a license. An Equity Bank customer is seeking justice after his account was swept clean by an unknown person. In a Facebook post shared by Edward Karungu, he explains how his 72-year-old father residing in Nyeri woke up to zero balance in his Equity account. Kenya on Thursday announced 143 more Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of infections to 35,603. Speaking from Mathare, Dr Aman said the cases were from a 3,854 sample size, bringing the cumulative tests to 485,836. 129 of the new infections were Kenyans while 14 were foreigners. Jambojet has increased fares for five routes by at least 37 percent as air travel picks up. Passengers using the Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, Malindi and Diani routes from Nairobi have had their airfares reviewed upwards as passenger capacity rises from 30 per cent to 58 per cent since domestic flights resumed in July. Migori governor Okoth Obado’s security has been withdrawn after tabling of an impeachment motion against him stalled for a second time. These allegations have however been dismissed by County Commissioner Boaz Cherotich. Thirdway Alliance Party has expelled its party leader, Ekuru Aukot over lack of transparency and financial impropriety. According to the party secretary general Fredrick Okango, Aukot who was suspended on August 26, failed to honour summons to appear before the party disciplinary committee.
