Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has ordered for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Maasai Mara University Vice Chancellor Prof Mary Walingo and four others. Kevin Omwenga was shot at close range and could have died instantly, government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor has said. Dr Oduor was speaking to reporters after conducting a postmortem on the remains of the 28 year old businessman at Montezuma Funeral home. A family is seeking government intervention to help fly home the remains of their kin who died in Saudi Arabia. In the last 24 hours Kenya has confirmed 355 new COVID-19 infections from a 5,724 sample size. In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the newly detected infections have pushed the total to 32,118. Since the index case was reported in March, 417,804 tests have been carried out. Of these new cases, 339 were Kenyans while 16 were foreign nationals. The youngest case was a 2 year old child while the oldest was 81 years of age. An unidentified person has escaped from Webuye KMTC Isolation Centre in Bungoma County. The individual was arrested for violating curfew orders that dictate that non-essential service providers should be at their homes between 9 pm and 4 am. According to the county Health and Sanitation executive Antony Walela, the escapee was apprehended in Webuye town past curfew hours. “He escaped through a toilet window. A letter purporting to have been been signed by head of public service Joseph Kinyua addressed to DCI, EACC is fake. The letter claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had ordered for expedited investigations into claims of misappropriation of COVID-19 funds. A man was on Friday night fatally shot in Kilimani over what police say is a gold deal gone wrong. 48 staff members and inmates at Kericho GK Prison have tested positive for the novel COVID-19. This was following a mass-testing exercise conducted by the Kericho County  Department of Health. 75 samples were collected. According to Governor Paul Chepkwony, the decision was informed by the spike in virus infections in recent days.
