The number of coronavirus infections has shot to 2,340 after 124 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said. This was after testing a 2,640 sample size. In terms of gender, 100 are male and 24 females. They are 119 Kenyans, 2 Tanzanians and 1 Eritrean. 39 patients have been discharged, bringing the number of recovered persons to 592. On the other hand, Kenya has lost 4 more patients. The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) together with the multi-agency enforcement team on counterfeit goods on Wednesday destroyed counterfeit goods worth Sh27 million at Athi River. The counterfeit goods comprised of assorted items ranging from fast moving consumer goods like clothing, footwear, alcohol, electrical goods and apparel among others which were replicas of popular local and international brand. Three Kenya Power employees in Mombasa have tested positive for the coronavirus, CEO Bernard Ngugi said. In a statement, Mr Ngugi said that the three staff members are currently in isolation and receiving the necessary medical attention. “The three employees have been isolated and are under medical treatment and psychological support as they recover,” he said. US ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter has denied declining to meet protesters who marched to the US embassy on Tuesday morning. The peaceful demonstrators protested the death of an African-American man, George Floyd, while in police custody. The number of coronavirus cases continues to rise exponentially especially within the communities. “The stage where we are in this fight requires that we remain focused and united. Kenya Power has announced power outage in 11 counties. The power interruption will last some 8 hours or less depending on the area. The scheduled outage was supposed to occur between 8 and 9 am until 4 and 5 pm.
