A Lamu court has released suspect in Tecra Muigai’s death, Omar Lali. Lali, 50, was set free on a Sh300,000 bond after spending 21 days behind bars. Floods have so far claimed 285 lives, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa announced on Wednesday. Addressing the media, the CS also noted that the number of people affected has risen to reach 810,655. Four popular nightclubs in Nairobi’s posh estate of Kilimani will remain shut after a court declined to issue an order reopening them pending hearing and determination of an appeal challenging revocation of their licences. The clubs; Kiza Lounge, Space Lounge, Grill and Explorer Tavern and B-Club were ordered shut in November last year following complaints by area residents. Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) announced the closure of its Mvita, Mombasa County branch on Tuesday. In a statement, bank CEO Joshua Oigara explained that an employee had tested positive for the coronavirus. He also revealed that those who worked closely with the said individual have been duly notified and undergoing counselling. Coronavirus cases in Kenya have jumped to 12 after 72 individuals tested positive, health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi said. This was after testing a 2,711 sample size. Kenya has so far carried out a total of 61,971 samples. 70 cases are Kenyan nationals, one Ugandan and a Somali. CAS Mwangangi said that the new patients were 44 males and 28 females between the ages of 12 and 78. One more patient has died bringing the total tally of fatalities to 52. Kiambu governor James Nyoro has condemned the distribution of poisonous food stuffs to residents on Sunday. Speaking on Monday, the county boss said the relief food had been distributed to Karai and Nachu wards in Kikuyu Constituency. Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has asked constituents to be wary of fake, poisonous donations.
