Kenya’s virus cases have jumped to 411 in the last 24 hours. Addressing reporters at Afya House, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed that out of the 1434 samples tested, 15 persons have tested positive. Of the new cases, 11 are from Mombasa. Equity Bank has suspended the Financial Access to SMEs and Rural Population in Agriculture using Technology (FASRAT) project. In a letter dated April 28, the bank suspended the project effective May 1 for a period of six months over economic effects of the novel COVID-19. One police officer is dead and seven others still missing after the car they were traveling in was swept away by floods in Baringo county. Moses Iyadi lost his life as they left Kabarnet county headquarters for a meeting on Thursday evening. The deceased was in the company of 10 other officers when their Isuzu lorry was swept away. Four officers have since been rescued after they managed to swim their way out of the raging waters. Restaurant owners will pay between Sh2,000 and Sh4,000 for staff to get tested for COVID-19. Speaking to lawmakers at the National Assembly Committee on Delegated Legislation, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said public hospitals will carry out the tests for the above mentioned prices. In the last 24 hours Kenya has tested 508 samples from 14 counties, out of which 10 persons have tested positive. Positive cases of COVID-19 have now hit 384, health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi has announced. A man on Wednesday morning lost his life after his car caught fire outside his home in Buruburu Phase V, Maimahiu Court. The man, who neighbours say could be Terrence Korir was burnt beyond recognition. Witnesses say that the car went up in flames shortly after he started the engine. The guards called the police who dispatched a fire engine to the area. It was only after the fire was contained that neighbours identified him. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has sent packing commissioner for Customs and Border Control (C&BC) Kevin Safari over alleged abuse of office. Mr Safari was in March charged alongside ex Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) managing director Daniel Manduku with abuse of office. He has been on compulsory leave ever since his arrest. Tanzanian rapper Mwana FA is finally free of the novel COVID-19. The crooner has been in isolation for 28 days and has been tested for the respiratory disease at least eight times. 11 new case out of the 589 samples tested in the last 24 hours have tested positive for COVID-19, Health CAS Rashid Aman has announced. This brings the toll to 374.
