The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) director general Zachary Mwangi on Monday released the National Census results at State House. The Kenyan population currently stands at 47,564,296 with women making up 50 percent of the population. Census results show that 23 million persons are male, 24 million female and 1,524 being intersex. The number of intersex persons is highest in Nairobi with 245 persons, Kiambu at 135, Nakuru 95, Wajir 49, Meru 41, Kakamega 40, Kisii 38, Kajiado 38, Migori 35 and Bungoma with 35 persons. Rev Jeremiah Gitau Secondary School headteacher died on Monday morning on her way to collect KCSE examination materials. The deceased was traveling in a private car alongside two other school heads who sustained serious injuries. They are admitted at Kijabe Hospital. Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua wants Ethic Entertainment’s new song, Tarimbo taken down by Google. In a lengthy Facebook rant, the moral policeman said the song advocates for violence against women. Kenyan born Erick Kang’ethe was on Wednesday found dead at a United States college at which he was pursuing Computer Engineering studies. Kang’ethe was born and raised in Nairobi and later moved to the States with his family. They settled in Massachusetts where he went on to graduate from Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester in June 2017, before enrolling at University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Tanzanian comedian Idris Sultan is being held by the police for ‘swapping faces’ with President John Magufuli in an infamous photo. Ex manager of teenage contortionist Joe Mwangi has threatened to take legal action against Citizen TV over an August 7 interview conducted by Jeff Koinange. Through his lawyer, Mwangi claims slanderous statements were made during the Jeff Koinange Live show hence his demanding for an apology. Tensions are high at the Uhuru Kenyatta owned Mediamax Networks Limited after journalists were sent packing. The company based at DSM Place along Kijabe Street declared some positions redundant in a bid to cut costs. This was in September. In a letter addressed to the county labour office, acting CEO Ken Ngaruiya said affected employees will be served with a one month’s notice. Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda (FCAU) representing journalists covering Uganda for foreign media organisations has condemned the arrest and intimidation of journalists covering the Makerere University students’ tuition protest. The week long protests have paralyzed business in and around the varsity as students decried a policy that sanctioned a 15 percent cumulative increment on tuition over the next five years. A Safarilink Aviation aircraft, registration 5Y-SLJ was on Tuesday evening involved in an incident. The plane is said to have veered off the runway at Wilson Airport at around 6.25pm.
