NGO Board’s Executive Director, Fazul Mahamed has on Tuesday asked the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to speedily arrest members and directors of African Centre For Open Governance (AFRICOG). According to Fazul, AFRICOG is operating a non-governmental organization without registration contrary to the NGOs coordination Act 1990. ”The board has however noted that AFRICOG is not registered under the NGOs co-ordination Act 1990 as required by law. Professor Makau Mutua has told off Fazul Mahamed for deregistering Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) over misappropriation of funds and unpaid taxes. Makau who is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s biggest critics, through his social media accounts dismissed the NGO board’s reasons for having his organization deregistered. A Kisumu woman shot by the police over the weekend will have to live with the bullet for the rest of her life. The NGO board on Monday de-registered the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) over misappropriation of funds. According to the board’s Executive Director, Fazul Mahamed the organization continues to hold 4 illegal accounts: 2 at the CBA and two others at the NIC Bank. Nakuru based Hero radio station has denied closing up shop. The very controversial radio station has said that their station is undergoing a major face lift. Nairobi County Police Commander, Japheth Koome while addressing the media on Monday denied claims of security officers killing unarmed civilians. ”Our mandate is to ensure life and property are protected at all costs without fear or favour. A middle aged man on Sunday evening brought business to a standstill in Nairobi’s CBD after he hanged himself on a tree along the busy Moi Avenue. Orenge Nyabicha, an IEBC presiding officer committed suicide over the weekend at his home in Quarry, Pipeline. Nyabicha who is a former employee of the Standard, arrived home from his polling centre in Imara Daima and according to a relative, he appeared disturbed. He apparently lit a charcoal stove and sealed off all ventilations. Former Member of Parliament for Gem, Jakoyo Midiwo has disagreed with his former party leader’s directive to boycott work.
