Tanzania has released six Kenyan fishermen after parting with a Sh300,000 fine, Kibro beach chairman Maulid Joel has confirmed. On Monday, the fishermen were set to go to trial after being charged with attempted robbery with violence. The suspects were arrested in May while on a fishing expedition in Lake Victoria. Their boats were also seized. They are said to have been in a heated confrontation with their Tanzanian counterparts forcing the authorities to swing into action. A building in Kiambu’s Kinoo area has collapsed. On site are police and officials from the National Construction Authority (NCA). The five-storey building which is located near White House was nearing completion when it started disintegrating at around 10 am. A man is on the run after he allegedly killed his ex-lover’s boyfriend. Police are searching for Joseph Macharia who is said to have attacked Loise Kanini’s boyfriend, John Tagei. 970 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a sample size of 7,940 tested in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed. The positivity rate is now at 12.2%. Total confirmed positive cases are now 237,851 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,388,858. From the cases, 940 are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners. 489 are males while 481 are females. Four people have been charged with theft following an eight-hour siege at the home of Assistant Inspector General of Police, King’ori Mwangi. The suspects; Nahashon Theuri, Eric Omondi, Roy Mutethia and Jane Njoki, on Wednesday appeared before Principal Magistrate Mathias Okuche in Nyeri, where they denied the charges. Police are searching for a man believed to have killed his girlfriend of three years in Nakuru’s Lakeview estate on Monday night. Moses Leparani is said to have killed Martha Waithera, a mother of two, before disappearing into the night. A case has been filed at the Milimani Law Courts challenging the removal of the elite General Service Unit (GSU) from Deputy President William Ruto’s residences. Kenyan born politician Lucy Gichuhi and her husband, Don Gichuhi, have lost their first-born daughter, Peris “Kadada” Gichuhi. Kadada, 33, according to information on her GoFundMe page, died on August 26. The cause of death is yet to be disclosed. Rescuers have recovered a body from a rubble of a six-storey building that collapsed on Monday in Gachie, Kiambu county. According to Kiambu police boss Ali Nuno, the body was found on Monday evening. 10 others have since been rescued but rescuers remain at the site to make sure all the construction workers are accounted for. Nuno did, however, note that three other workers could still be trapped in the rubble.
