YouTube is planning to pay creators $100 million for using its TikTok competitor YouTube Shorts throughout 2022. The goal is to make people post and maintain activity on the platform which does not offer a way to monetize. Former Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero used millions looted from the City Hall coffers to upgrade his apartments at Nairobi’s Riverside Drive, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is yet to hire a substantive managing director since it advertised a vacancy in 2019. In a new advertisement on Tuesday, KAA called for applications to be made between new May 11, 2021 and May 21, 2021. The High Court has temporarily barred the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from arresting Meru Senator Mithika Linturi over 37 fraud charges. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has suspended flights to and from Somalia with immediate effect. Through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, KCAA said the suspension will last for three months from May 11 to August 9 this year. Only humanitarian deliveries and medical evacuation flights will be allowed into the country. Flights from Somalia passing through the Kenyan airspace to another destination will be exempted from the ban. The Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) has announced payments for depositors of fallen banks Chase and Charterhouse. KDIC has already aviled forms for the depositors of Chase Bank Limited in Liquidation across SBM bank branches. The depositors whose claims are approved will be paid up to Ksh500,000 through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). The Court has issued a warrant of arrest against Goldenscape Greenhouses CEO Peter Wangai after he failed to appear in court. Wangai was charged with defrauding Kenyans through fake greenhouse deals, and was released on a Ksh2 million cash bail.
