In the last 24 hours, 121 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 6,454. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases to 322,043 and the cumulative tests conducted so far to 3,254,043. The positivity rate is now 1.9 percent. In the same period, the ministry of health has reported a total of 117 Covid-19 recoveries. Out of these, 90 patients have been discharged from the home based care and isolation program while 27 have been discharged from various health facilities countrywide. Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has offered to take care of funeral expenses for veteran football fan Isaac Juma Onyango. The governor said the county would take care of the funeral expenses and education for three of the deceased’s 12 children. The three children are currently in Secondary school. Onyango was killed after assailants raided his home at Bunyenjere village, Mumias West in Kakamega county on the night of January 26. A middle aged woman reportedly killed her three children before taking her own life in their house in Gilgil, Nakuru county. Gilgil sub-county Police Commander John Onditi confirmed that the lady hang herself in the house after poisoning the three children. She is said to have been married to a Kenya Defence Forces officer who is away in Somalia. In a suicide note left at the scene, the woman indicated that the husband had not been taking care of their needs as expected. President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally delivered his pledge of 150 cows to Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimaye. The donation, comprising the Mandela cow together with 50 high yielding heifers were delivered by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has issued a notice to all drone users, urging them to register their aircrafts ahead of the general election in August 2022. Speaking at an event on Friday, KCAA Director General Captain Gilbert Kibe said the authority was anticipating an increase in the use of drones, helicopter and light air-crafts as the election draws nearer. Last week, audio-streaming app Spotify was trending on social media after a section of musicians pulled out their music from the platform. Kenyans will not be compensated for expenses incurred should network interruptions result in dropped calls. This is after a bill seeking to compel mobile telcos to reimburse customers Sh10 for every dropped call expired before it was passed to law. Electric bus company, BasiGo, has announced the launch of its operations in Nairobi. The electric buses have been contracted among several other firms to offer services on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) which will connect the city’s termini.
