Kenyan farmers and business people trading in agricultural commodities are set to benefit from a Warehouse Receipt System (WRS)  that will enable them store their produce thereby boosting food security in the country. Video-conferencing app Google Meet is rolling out a feature that will translate subtitles to multiple languages. The feature, which has been on test is now rolling out to multiple users with support for translations to French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Last year during its I/O, Google debuted live translated captions, which were then put into a testing phase with a small set of Workspace users who opted in manually. Instagram is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to edit their profile grid and personalize posts on their feed to their aesthetic preference. Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi spotted the feature which he says will allow users to rearrange posts in any order they like. Instead of deleting or archiving a post that no longer fits your feed’s style, you might just rearrange it. Brands, business accounts, and personal bloggers may find this new tool very useful. Nigeria has finally lifted the Twitter ban imposed in the country seven months ago. The Nigerian government suspended the social media network after the company deleted a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari. Following the ban, a number of internet providers blocked Twitter access to users. The Nigerian government had set a number of conditions for Twitter before lifting the ban. Kenya is among a number of countries that asked Google to remove various content from the internet. According to a report by Surfshark, Kenya asked Google to take down 31 pieces of content in 2021. Russia was the leading country with 123,606 take-down requests, followed by Turkey with 14, 231 requests. India came in third with 9,899 requests while the United States came in fourth with 9,627 requests. Africa is the new hotspot for cybercriminals, according to a report by research firm Checkpoint. A survey across five regions showed that the continent experienced the highest number of cyber attacks in 2021. Weekly cyberattacks on organizations increased 13 percent from 2020, to about 1,582. Kenya recorded the second-highest number of cyberattacks in Africa, trailing Nigeria, with 32.8 million attacks in the first half of 2021. The figures demonstrate a rise from the number of threats recorded last year during the same period when Kenya recorded the lowest percentage of attacks at 15.9. The Kenya Revenue Authority will soon be able to keep track of landlords’ tax payments using a new geo-mapping technology. The United States has imposed a level three travel advisory on Kenya, effectively downgrading it from the much safer level one category it got last year. An overnight attack in Salama village, Lamu County, resulted in the deaths of two persons and the burning of several homes. Assailants are reported to have fired several rounds of ammunition causing extensive damage, prompting the locals to flee. In the last 24 hours, 1,667 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 8,703 tested. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases to 310,797 and the cumulative tests conducted to 3,094,153. The positivity rate is now 19.2 percent. On a positive note, 2,523 patients have recovered from the disease in the same period. Out of these, 2,395 have been discharged from the home based care and isolation program and 128 from health facilities across the country. The total number of recoveries is now 264,656. One robber was gunned down while his two accomplices escaped with injuries after a shoot-out with police at Muthoni area along the Kitale-Eldoret highway.
