Police in Mombasa have arrested a woman accused of drugging her victims before stealing their valuables. Joyce Aluta was arrested at kisimani area in Nyali on Thursday night. Witnesses accused the woman of intoxicating her victims before stealing from them. “The woman who poses as a sex worker has been intoxicating her clients then robbing off their belongings such as mobile phones, watches, shoes and wallets,” Abdalla Abdulrahman who exposed the woman stated. A 15 year old boy who attempted to sell bhang to an OCS in Murang’a has been jailed for three years. Appearing before Chief Resident magistrate Shivai Agade, the boy pleaded guilty to peddling drugs, and shifted the blame to his parents who he said were pampering him. “I would have reformed long time ago had they not been paying bails and bonds for me when arrested.” The minor said. In the last 24 hours, 3,286 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 11,703 tested. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 292,237 and the cumulative tests so far conducted to 3,020,888. The Positivity Rate is now 28.1 percent. In the same period, the MOH has recorded 260 recoveries from Covid-19. Out if these, 152 people have been discharged from various health facilities across the country while 108 have been discharged from home based care and isolation. Counterfeit and stolen mobile phones will henceforth be denied service by mobile network operators. The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) said it will develop a database where all mobile devices in the country will be registered. “The system will enable the registration of mobile devices, verification of IMEIs, identification of counterfeit, stolen or lost devices and illegal devices,” a statement by the CA read. Churchill show Comedian popularly known as Akuku Danger is reportedly admitted in ICU after one of his lungs collapsed. According to sources seen by KahawaTungu, the comedian had earlier been admitted at the Nairobi Women’s hospital in Ongata Rongai where he was treated and discharged. In the last 24 hours, Covid-19 infections soared by 3,297 from a sample size of 9,637 tested. This brings the total number of positive cases to 288,951 and the cumulative tests conducted so far to 3,009,185. The positivity rate is now 34.2 percent. 236 people have recovered from the disease, 173 from the home based care and isolation program and 63 from various health facilities countrywide. Students of Maranda high school will be required to undergo a mandatory drug test from a certified Nacada health facility and pay Sh5,125 before readmission in January 2022. The School was closed after fires rocked a number of schools. The latest fire in Maranda high school razed a 600-bed dormitory before the students were sent home in November. Detectives from Machakos county are investigating the disappearance of a Somali businessman, Mohammed Hassan, on December 23. Hassan’s family believe he was abducted after he was picked up from his shop at Machakos junction by agents who identified themselves as government officials. According to the family, Hassan was allegedly picked up by individuals patroling the area to enforce Covid-19 regulations. “When the individuals came and asked why they were not wearing a mask everyone in the area scattered including Mohammed, but they went after him and grabbed him from inside the shop,” his brother Omar Hassan said. WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow admins to converge various groups into a bigger community.According to WABetaInfo, the communities will have many features and will allow admins to add up to 10 groups. Among the features cited is the ability for admins to decide on who can and cannot text in the group. Popular Congolese singer and songwriter General Defao whose real name is Lulendo Matumona has died aged 62. The singer reportedly passed away on Monday December 27, at the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, Cameroon, where he had been admitted. Following the news of his demise, fellow Congolese musicians including Fally Ipupa and Ferra Gola took to social media to mourn him. Google is reportedly planning to fire all employees who refuse to get vaccinated against Covid-19. According to an internal memo seen by CNBC, the company told its US employees that those who refuse to abide by the company vaccination policies will lose their jobs. The staff has been instructed to upload relevant documents as proof of their vaccination status. The Nairobi County Assembly Board has appointed Gavin Castro as the interim county clerk after the high court barred Adah Onyango from the office. The Labour court barred Onyango from acting as the Nairobi City County Clerk Assembly clerk and secretary to the County Assembly Service board. Onyango was barred by Judge Nduma Nderi after Human Rights Activist Okiya Omtatah filed an application with the employment and labor court.
