Despite having the lowest Internet connectivity,  Africa has the greatest potential for growth. Tech giants including Google are therefore moving fast to fuel the continent’s digital growth. According to a report by industry trade group Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), nearly 20 million more Africans subscribed to a mobile connection during the pandemic period on 2020. Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe has convened a crisis meeting to discuss Covid-19 containment measures ahead of the festive season. Members of the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC) are expected to attend the meeting today. Speaking to The Business Daily on Monday, Kagwe did not divulge any details regarding the anticipated Covid-19 measures. “I can’t tell before the NERC meeting. Jack Dorsey has stepped down as CEO of popular social media platforms, Twitter. The position will be taken over by the current chief technical officer Parag Agrawal. The Central Bank of Kenya has commended the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) for establishing a National Data centre and has pledged to support its efforts in the search for foreign investors. The Kenyan government has channeled Sh3.4 billion to train Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) teachers across the country. According to Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia, 229,292 primary school teachers from both public and private schools for grades one to five (1-5) and 1,166 tutors from various Teachers training colleges have already been trained. Security has been beefed up in various parts of the city ahead of the Administration Police Service Personnel pass out parade today. President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the chief guest at the event which will be held at the National Police Service College Embakasi ‘A’ Campus (Administration Police) As a precaution,  relatives of the graduates as well as members of the public will not be allowed at the event. Detectives in Narok have arrested 12 people suspected to be dealing drugs. Following a tip off from members of the public, the Detectives arrested the 12, who include one woman who is said to be the mastermind of the gang.  Bhang worth Sh500,000 was seized during the operation. Narok County Police commander Kizito Mutoro confirmed the arrest of the suspects by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers and police officers. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of stealing fairly new motorbikes and selling them off in neighbouring countries. The suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate that has been attacking and stealing relatively new motorcycles from Bodaboda riders. In an operation led by dectectives, one bike that had been tracked led to the discovery of several others aboard a Moyale bound bus. Kenya last night received a new batch of Covid-19 vaccines from the United States. Ministry of Health Officials led by the Port Health Officer in charge at JKIA Mr Benjamin Murkomen received the 834,130 doses of Pfizer vaccines at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Spotify has become the latest company to develop a TikTok clone. According to Tech Crunch, the audio-streaming platform is testing a TikTok-style video feed that will show full-strength video clips as songs play.
