Columbia University has agreed to pay $200m (£147m) to the Trump administration over accusations that it had failed to protect its Jewish students. The government will list Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) shares at the Nairobi Securities Exchange subject to Cabinet and parliamentary approval, President William Ruto has announced. He said the listing of the State corporation is necessary to eliminate inefficiencies and raise the standards of governance. A man died after being attacked with a hammer in a village in Luanda, Vihiga County. The incident happened in Ikokwa village on Sunday July 20. The victim identified as Thomas Shikuku died in his house two days later on July 22, police said. He had sustained serious head injuries and was referred to Kisumu for further treatment but he did not have money to enable him go for the tests. A man was hacked to death in a robbery incident in Kibera slums, Nairobi. Police said the deceased, identified as Hassan Issa, 29 was in the company of his girlfriend when they were confronted and assaulted by a gang of about ten on Tuesday July 22. Detectives are investigating an incident where the body of a man was found hanged on a tree after he had been murdered in Magunga, Homa Bay County. A police officer sustained a serious bite wound while arresting a suspect in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County. US President Donald Trump said the US has agreed to a “massive” trade deal with Japan, one of the country’s largest trading partners. The plan would result in Japan investing $550bn (£407bn) into the US and paying a 15% reciprocal tariff, Trump said in a post on social media.
