The National Police Service (NPS) has recorded 57 abduction cases since the youth-led demonstrations began on June 18, 2024, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said Thursday. The IG said out of the 57 cases, 22 have since been found alive, 29 are still missing and six were found dead. “Police don’t abduct or kidnap, we detain and keep inside stations whereby investigations commence. A High Court has upheld the government’s decision to lift the decade-long ban on genetically modified organisms (GMOs), rejecting a petition that claimed the authorization of GMO cultivation and importation violated the law. Safaricom PLC has posted a 27.1 per cent growth in net earnings for the first six months of the year, with the Group service revenue growing 14 per cent to hit a half year high of Sh181.4 billion. Detectives are investigating an incident in which a 29-year-old female barber died by suicide at her residence in Nyeri County. The body of Milicent Nyambura was discovered hanging from the roof of her residence in Kiandere area after suicide. She was working as a barber at Githakwa Township, police and locals said.
