A Somali national was Monday charged with an offense of alleged possession of a weapon. Mohamed Liban Aden was presented before Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Wambua Mutua where he denied the charges. National Chairman of the opposition party Chadema, Freeman Mbowe, was arrested Monday morning in the Magomeni area of Dar es Salaam.  This happened as he addressed journalists over a planned protest. The party’s Vice Chairman for Tanzania Mainland, was also arrested at his home in Tegeta, just hours before the planned protests were scheduled to begin. Detectives are investigating a bizarre incident in which a 14-year-old girl was defiled and murdered in Likia area, Njoro, Nakuru County. The body of the grade six pupil at a local school was found in a maize plantation on Saturday September 21 morning long after she had been killed. Police said they suspect the victim was defiled before she was killed. The family says the two were detained and questioned over their alleged role in the anti-government protests that took place in Kitengela and other parts of the country. Four members of the same family, including two young children, have died in a gas explosion in southern Italy.
