Dozens of people were left homeless following a fire incident at the sprawling Mukuru slums, Nairobi.  Officials said the fire broke out at Mukuru Kwa Reuben. They said the fire, initially suspected to have been a gas fire, but preliminary investigation indicate may be as a result of electrical fault. The gas cylinders located in some of the houses exploded thereafter and approximately 50 housing units were affected. Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Tuesday ignored an invitation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to seek his clarification over allegations he made about purported attempts on his life. Several government officials who turned up for work at the offices of impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s office were Tuesday barred from accessing them. This happened at both Harambee House Annex and his official residence in Karen. Security at the offices told the staff to stay away and wait for further communication. A woman aged 84 was found dead after he had been murdered by his mentally ill daughter in a fight in Kathiani, Machakos County. The body of Kanini Mutali was found in her house with severe burns after the drama on October 15. She had been severely injured by hot water and the body was lying on the ground.
