A National Polytechnic student was freed of the offense of allegedly impersonating former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and publishing nude pictures using a Facebook account he had created. Tyson Kibet aged 23-years-old was acquitted on Thursday after Sonko presented himself at a Milimani court and withdrew the case. He was acquitted by the trial Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo. Sonko told the court that he decided to forgive the accused and withdraw the case after his family approached him while pleading. At least 17 people are missing after a boat they were using capsized at the Lake Turkana. The incident happened on Tuesday August 13 morning. The boat was carrying 19 people when it capsized, officials said. Only two survived after the incident. Police said had a group had left for Soit Place in Marsabit County from the Eliye area using a fiber boat owned by the Kalokol Impreza Management Team when the incident happened. At least two al shabaab terror suspects were killed in a police raid at a makeshift camp in Digdiga area in Fafi within Garissa County. Police said several recoveries were made during the operation, including three AK47 rifles and ammunition, grenades, radios, indoctrination literature, AAA batteries, animal snare, and jerricans among others. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the mpox outbreak in parts of Africa a public health emergency of international concern.
