Police are investigating an incident in which two brothers died by suicide in a village in Longisa, Narok County in a dispute over land.  The incident happened in Kapsilibwa village in Sagamian, Narok County on Friday. Police said the two hanged themselves following a dispute over land. According to preliminary findings, Vincent Kipkorir Koech, 19, and Gilbert Kibet Koech, 17, agreed between themselves to die by suicide after their father allocated a parcel of land to his first wife. The government crackdown has shut down at least 9,500 unlicensed bars in the nationwide crackdown on illicit liquor and drugs. This comes amid protests from some governors the operation is far fetched and affecting businesses. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said that 4,800 establishments selling alcohol and located near basic education institutions have also been closed and their licenses revoked. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) wants the Director of Public Prosecutions to expedite the prosecution of those involved in the Shakahola massacre. A 41-year-old man was Thursday arrested after his wife died hours after a domestic assault in their house in Kariobangi, Nairobi. Elizabeth Mutanda died in hospital where she had been rushed after allegedly being assaulted at home. Police said they were called and informed of the incident hours after it had happened following domestic differences. She was rushed to Mama Margaret Uhuru Kenyatta Hospital where she succumbed. Police are investigating a shooting incident at a construction site in Kileleshwa, Nairobi. The area is facing a wave of construction of high-rise buildings amid resistance from some locals. Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni appointed his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).  He replaces Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi who was appointed Minister of State for trade in the new cabinet reshuffle announced Thursday evening. Gen Muhoozi has been serving as his father’s senior presidential advisor in charge of special operations. Idaho police captured two white supremacist gang members who have been linked to two homicides since a prison break on Wednesday. Fugitive inmate Skylar Meade, 31, and alleged accomplice Nicholas Umphenour were caught in the city of Twin Falls. Three officers were injured when Umphenour, 28, allegedly ambushed guards while they took Meade back to prison from a hospital. Police say both men are members of a prison gang – the Aryan Knights. Former Nairobi Provincial Commissioner (PC) Davis Nathan Chelogoi will spend four days in remand ahead of a ruling on if he should be granted bail.  He presented himself in court on Thursday and denied six criminal counts. He was charged with defrauding businessman Ashok Rupshi Shah and Hitenkumar Amritlal Raja of a parcel of land measuring 7.390 hectares situated in Lower Kabete Road valued at Sh1.3 billion. The US has filed a landmark lawsuit against Apple, accusing the tech giant of monopolising the smartphone market and crushing competition. In the legal action, the justice department alleges the company abused its control of the iPhone app store to “lock in” customers and developers. The taxman Thursday announced deductions for the controversial housing project under Affordable Housing Act, 2024 will take effect from March 19.
