At least four suspects were arrested and more than 6.8 kilos of elephant tusks found on them in an operation in Makindu, Makueni county. Police and officials from the Kenya Wildlife Service staged the operation on Tuesday March 12 leading to the arrest and recovery. The suspects were in possession of six pieces of ivory tusks weighing 6.8 kilos with approximate street value of Sh2 million. The suspects were detained at Makindu Police Station awaiting arraignment. At least six people were killed and eight injured in a fight between groups over the control of a gold mine site in Marsabit County. The Orofani Hilo gold mining in Dabale is near Kenya-Ethiopia and is among many sites that have attracted a huge number of youths who are scavenging for the mineral for a living. Detectives are investigating a bizarre murder incident in a village in Meru County after a body of a missing woman was found with dismembered body parts. Police said the incident was reported in Tigania West’s Amwari area where a decomposed body of a woman was found on top of Maundu Hills. The gang went to Itigo Girls Secondary and broke into a library and made away with the books. A family is mourning after their nine-year-old son died in an electrocution at Zimmerman estate, Nairobi. The grade three pupil at Judima Academy died after he touched live wires on Tuesday night. The parents of the child said he was playing with other friends on the first floor of their apartment when he slid off and fell. The anti corruption court in Nairobi allowed an application by the anti graft agency to hold and retain Sh4.2 million seized at the premises of a Principal Land Registrar based in Thika.  Justice Esther Maina said the preservation order will be in force for a period of six months as the Ethics and Anti corruption Commission conclude their probe. The man accused of killing his wife in Mathira, Nyeri and who died by suicide on Monday left a suicide note confessing to the crime. The body of Evans Kosgei, 28 was found dangling from a tree with a rope around his neck on Monday March 11. His body was found in Jomoko area on a tree long after he had evaded a police dragnet.
