A Malindi-bound Tahmeed bus with 48 passengers burst into flames and burnt to ashes shortly after all those on board were evacuated Sunday morning. Police and the bus management said the incident happened on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, a few kilometers from Voi town. Police said the cause of the fire is yet to be established and that many were left in shock. The bus management said all the 48 passengers were evacuated. Senegalese President Macky Sall on Saturday announced the indefinite postponement of a presidential election scheduled for February 25, just hours before official campaigning was due to start. Government pathologist Johansen Odour has confirmed that Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s caretaker, Kizito Moi, was killed by a bull. Safaricom announced Saturday customers will not be able to send money from M-Pesa to unregistered mobile accounts from Monday February 5 In a statement, the mobile phone operator however stated that registered customers will be able to send and receive money from different mobile money providers such as Airtel and T-Kash. “Effective February 5th 2024, you will no longer be able to send money from M-Pesa to unregistered mobile money customers,” Safaricom stated. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has suspended four officials linked to the Embakasi Gas explosion. The National Security Council led by President William Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has moved to the Court of Appeal seeking to overturn the decision against the deployment of police officers to Haiti. Police are investigating an incident in which a worker died as he and his colleagues dug a manhole at the Eldoret home of former Aldai MP Cornelius Serem.  The incident happened on Friday afternoon as workers dug a sewerage line in Chepkatet area. Police said a deep sewer line was being constructed at the home when loose soil caved into the sewer burying one of the workers identified as Joel Nyukuri, 30. The government now says the Thursday night blast at a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant in Nairobi’s Embakasi area was caused by incorrect refilling of the cylinders. Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and his Interior counterpart Kithure Kindiki, in a joint statement released on Friday evening, said the gas cylinders were refilled using direct manifold connections to the LPG tanker. In a circular dated 31st January 2024 addressed to all Principals of national schools,  Education PS Belio Kipsang directed that all parents of national schools make fees payment via the e-Citizen platform. U.S. forces Friday conducted a series of strikes today against Iran-backed militant groups in Iraq and Syria in response to last weekend’s attack in Jordan that killed three U.S. soldiers.
