Five men are wanted in a probe into a terror cell in Siaya County.  Detectives are hunting the five suspects they say are on the run after the fatal attack on a police officer in Siaya. The police officer was stabbed to death and robbed of his rifle and that of a colleague as they escorted examination papers on November 20, 2023. At least 63 Eritreans were Friday arrested by police in a village in Wajir County as they sought for means of transport to Nairobi.  The group was intercepted at Leheley in Wajir while heading to Nairobi. The group of men and women was later Friday taken to court and remanded until December 8, 2023 when their case will be mentioned. They were charged with being illegally in Kenya. Heavy gunfire was reported in Guinea-Bissau’s capital on Friday morning hours after some National Guard soldiers went to free a detained minister and a senior state official. Members of the National Guard took the officials before seeking refuge in barracks south of the capital. Special forces then intervened after attempts to negotiate failed, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Calm is said to have been restored later. Police officers carrying out traffic duties will no longer carry firearms to their workstations. This follows a directive by Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service Douglas Kanja. In an internal memo dated November 30, Kanja’s deputy Miriam Muli said that effective November 30, officers actively discharging traffic duties will no longer carry firearms. Police are investigating a fire incident that killed two children in Rumuruti, Laikipia County. The incident happened in Muhotetu location, Mutanga area. Police said a two-roomed timber house caught fire killing a three- year old boy and his one year old sister. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. Police said locals had reported hearing a loud explosion from the area before the fire broke out. It later emerged the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder. Officials are investigating the cause of a huge fire that swept through a section of Gikomba Market in Nairobi leaving many in pain. Police and witnesses said the fire broke out from the section that handles shoes spreading fast on Friday December 1 morning. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said no injury had been reported. President William Ruto has announced that Kenyans who have invested through the Financial Inclusion Fund, popularly known as the Hustler Fund, will see a 50% increase in their long-term savings. Five percent of each loan made through the fund goes toward savings; seventy percent goes toward long-term savings and thirty percent goes toward short-term savings. Kenyan security agents are investigating claims Ugandan soldiers targeted and drove away with 400 heads of cattle in a village in Kacheliba, West Pokot County. The area is near the Kenya-Uganda border.
