Engineer Francis Gitau has been named the Director General of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA). Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases has dismissed claims of a raid on Governor Simba Arati’s office at Gusii Stadium on Monday morning. Mr Kases told the Nation that the officers were patrolling the area and were only “resting” at the stadium. A 17-year-old girl who was supposed to write her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination has gone missing. Officials in Kitui are looking for the minor who is said to have gone missing with her three-month-old baby from their home on Monday morning. The incident was reported at Kabati police station. Police raided a manmade dam in Eldoret where five pupils died and seized a boat that capsized there.  The team also arrested the owner of the facility and a worker as part of the probe into the tragedy. A remote controlled bomb hit and killed at least two General Service Unit officers Monday morning in Dadaab, Garissa County.  Four other officers were seriously injured in the attack, police said. A taxi that had been stolen in Embakasi area, Nairobi was recovered in Ahero, Kisumu hours later.
