The 30-stock Dow dropped 145 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500 shed 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite hovered around the flatline. Intel shares extended its gains Mondayon the heels of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick revealing Friday that the U.S. government has taken a 10% stake in the chipmaker. In addition to the D.C.-focused executive order, Fox News confirmed that Trump is also expected to sign a second executive order with the goal of ending cash bail nationwide by threatening to revoke federal funding for jurisdictions across the country. The New York Post first reported on the separate nationwide executive order. Trump spoke about ending the nocash bail policy earlier this month, though hinted that he was…

Kilmar Abrego Garcia has been taken into custody after arriving at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Baltimore. In a statement, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed his arrest and said that ICE “are processing him for deportation”. He was mistakenly deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador in March, and then brought back to face criminal charges. US authorities have informed him he may be deported to Uganda, following his refusal to accept a plea deal, his lawyers say. His legal team accuses the US of trying to “coerce” him to plead guilty by…
Keurig Dr Pepper will acquire Dutch coffee and tea company JDE Peet’s in a roughly $18 billion deal that could give a boost to the U.S. giant’s struggling coffee business, the two companies said Monday. The deal was first reported by the Wall Street Journal. Keurig Dr Pepper will pay JDE Peet’s shareholders 31.85 euros ($37.3) per share in cash, representing a 33% premium on the Dutch’s firm’s 90-day volume-weighted average stock price, which represents a total equity purchase of 15.7 billion euros ($18.4 billion). JDE Peet’s will, meanwhile, pay out a previously declared dividend of 0.36 euros per share…
At least 15 people, including four journalists working for the international media, are reported to have been killed in an Israeli strike on a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip. A Reuters cameraman and an Associated Press journalist were among those killed in the attack at Nasser Hospital. Another journalist is reported to have worked for Al Jazeera. Several people were killed in an initial strike, and others in a second which happened as rescuers attended the scene, the Hamas-run Civil Defence said. The Israeli military said it had carried out an attack on the hospital and an investigation had…
Chinese property giant Evergrande’s shares were taken off the Hong Kong stock market on Monday after more than a decade and a half of trading. It marks a grim milestone for what was once China’s biggest real estate firm, with a stock market valuation of more than $50bn (£37.1bn). That was before its spectacular collapse under the weight of the huge debts that had powered its meteoric rise. Experts say the delisting was both inevitable and final. “Once delisted, there is no coming back,” says Dan Wang, China director at political risk consultancy Eurasia Group. Evergrande is now best-known for…
Fulham substitute Emile Smith Rowe’s strike held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage on Sunday, meaning Ruben Amorim’s side are still looking for their first Premier League win this season. Smith Rowe tucked home Alex Iwobi’s cross to cancel out Rodrigo Muniz’s own goal and end United’s incredible run of eight successive victories at Craven Cottage. Visiting captain Bruno Fernandes also missed a first-half penalty on a frustrating afternoon for United boss Ruben Amorim. For the last 40 minutes United fielded their new £200million frontline of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but all they had…
Israel struck Yemen’s Houthis on Sunday after the Iran-backed rebels fired a new type of missile at Israel. The Israeli military said it struck a military site where the presidential palace is located, as well as two power plants and a fuel storage site. Initial reports from the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV indicated that at least two people were killed and five wounded in the attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said “the strikes were conducted in response to repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel and its civilians.” More than 10 fighter jets participated in…
Jerry Adler, who famously played Herman “Hesh” Rabkin on The Sopranos, has died at the age of 96. The Brooklyn native appeared in 27 episodes across six seasons of the HBO series, portraying a Jewish loan shark and trusted advisor to James Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano. Incredibly, Adler didn’t begin acting professionally until his 60s. Even so, he had several notable credits to his name beyond The Sopranos, including roles in The Good Wife, Rescue Me, Northern Exposure, Mad About You, and Broad City. The late blooming actor also starred in hit shows “The Good Wife” and “Rescue Me.” Adler, the…
Vietnam has ordered more than 586,000 people to be evacuated ahead of the arrival of Typhoon Kajiki. The storm is already packing winds of 166km/h (103mph) and is expected to strengthen further before making landfall early on Monday, weather forecasters said. People from the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue and Da Nang have been ordered to leave their homes. Flights have been cancelled and boats told to stay ashore. Three young sisters drowned in a rubber boat carrying migrants in the central Mediterranean after waves of up to 1.5m (4.9 ft) repeatedly washed over the vessel, a German rescue charity has said. About 65 people were rescued, including the sisters’ mother and brother, as well as three pregnant women and a seven-month-old baby, RESQSHIP added. The “dangerously overcrowded” rubber boat had departed from Libya’s Zuwara city and “started taking on increasing amounts of water” a few hours later, the charity said. Libya is a major launching pad for migrants who make the treacherous journey across the Mediterranean, hoping to…
Nigeria’s military has killed 35 jihadists in a series of air strikes near its north-eastern border with Cameroon, it said in a statement. The strikes were carried out in four areas to thwart an attempt by the jihadists to attack ground troops, the military added. Nigeria has been battling jihadist groups for more than a decade, as well as violent criminal gangs, sectarian conflict and widespread kidnappings for ransom. On Saturday, a group of prominent Nigerians, including ex-government ministers, business persons and civil society activists, issued a statement, raising concern that parts of Nigeria were enduring “war-time levels of slaughter”,…
Portugal just dropped a bombshell that’s sending shockwaves through the investment migration world. The government unveiled sweeping citizenship law reforms in June 2025 that could fundamentally change how high-net-worth individuals approach Portuguese residency and citizenship. We’re talking about doubling residency requirements, introducing new tests, and closing popular pathways altogether. If you’re considering the Portuguese Golden Visa or already hold one, these changes could dramatically affect your long-term plans. The proposed reforms aren’t just tweaks—they represent a complete philosophical shift toward stricter integration requirements and longer waiting periods. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing, when it might happen,…
It was an occasion that was transcended by someone who did not play but had so much more to chew over from an Arsenal point of view. The club showed off their new signing, Eberechi Eze, parading him beforehand and screening a welcome video for him at half-time. As the goals flew in to defeat Leeds, the cutaways to him in the stands were inevitable. Eze’s signing has the feel of a coup and not only because Arsenal, in the vernacular of the trade, properly did over Tottenham to land him. Eze clapped as Jurriën Timber opened the scoring following…
