Embattled Migori County Governor Okoth Obado is on the anti-corruption radar once again after detectives linked him to a Ksh35 million property in Loresho allegedly bought with proceeds of graft. The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has obtained orders to seize the house owned by Jared Kwaga who is suspected to be Obado’s proxy. Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria now claims that a motion to impeach Deputy President William Ruto is ready. According to the controversial lawmaker, the motion was drafted by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s man and Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega. Three police officers attached to Kamukunji Police Station on Thursday denied aiding a Ugandan kidnapping suspect escape from lawful custody. The three, Corporal Vacity Kimeres and Constables Stephen Auko and Elias Koome, were arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following completion of investigations into the escape of Martin Wasike on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Thursday assured clerics that the government would facilitate small church fellowships amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Three police officers attached to Kamukunji Police Station have been arrested for allegedly aiding a Ugandan kidnapping suspect escape from the cells last Thursday. Targeted mass testing among the Nairobi County residents resumed today in Eastleigh, one of the estates that have been marked as hotspots by the Ministry of Health. In a notice released by Director of Health Services at the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Dr Josephine Kibaru, the exercise was scheduled to take place at St Teresa’s Boys Secondary School, New Eastleigh Primary School and Zawadi Primary School, all located in Kamukunji Sub-county. The government has declared Monday, May 25, a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i made the announcement through a gazette notice on Wednesday. The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan according to the Muslim calendar. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Muslims won’t be able to hold their usual celebrations, because of the ban on public gatherings. Marriage Services at the Attorney General’s Office have been suspended indefinitely a day after reopening over the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) fears. The office had been partially reopened on May 18, 2020, for selected marriage services. Police have launched a manhunt for Brian Kenani, a suspect in the murder of Pamoja FM journalist Mohammed Hassan Marijan early this month in Kibra, Nairobi. The victims of the 1998 bomb attacks on US embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania were on Monday awarded $4.3 billion (Ksh430 billion) in punitive damages. The US Supreme Court ordered Sudan to pay the victims on grounds that the country provided crucial assistance to Al Qaeda, the group that was behind the attack. The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya rose to 963 on Tuesday after 51 more people tested positive. Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said a total of 1,933 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
