The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has dismissed claims that investigations into the corruption scandal at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) stalled. Police in Mombasa are holding five teenagers linked to a spate of robberies in the affluent Nyali suburb. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rounded up the gang after saving one of the gang members from a rowdy mob that almost lynched him. The 19-year-old identified as Bakari Juma Saidi alias Abu is linked to several robberies in Kadzandani area. A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in Tinderet, Nandi County, over suspected dealings with terrorist group Al-Shabaab. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the woman was arrested on Tuesday evening by officers from Soghor police station following a tip-off from concerned members of the public. The woman, who was cohabiting with a man in Kamalambu village, appeared suspicious, police said. Maendeleo Chap Chap Secretary General Stephen Kilonzo has announced his defection to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Besieged Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has been charged with four counts of graft. Mwendwa was presented in court a day after he declined to take a plea in the graft case. Appearing before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Eunice Nyutu on Tuesday, Mwendwa denied all the charges and was freed on a cash bond of Sh15 million or alternative cash bail of Sh10 million. A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for recruitment malpractices. Corporal Fred Kiptum Kiplagat was convicted on Monday, November 29 by a Court Martial sitting at Lang’ata Barracks in Nairobi. Police in Machakos County are holding five students from Masaani Girls Secondary School linked to a fire incident that gutted down a dormitory at the school on November 5, 2021. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has withdrawn from the 2022 election preparedness team. The Firearms and Licencing Board has defended the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti over a recent stand-off over firearms confiscated from businessman Jimmy Wanjigi in 2017. Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested 14 students over a fire incident reported at Kamuiru Boys High School last night. The fire gutted a dormitory in the school in a suspected arson incident. No student was hurt as the boys were in night preps when the fire broke out. Nothing was, however, salvaged from the dormitory. Three terror convicts, who were recently arrested after escaping from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, have admitted to the offense. The trio, Musharraf Abdalla Akhulunga alia Zarkarawi, Mohammed Ali Abikar and Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf, however, denied the charge of committing a terror act. They appeared before Chief Magistrate Diana Mochache at the Kahawa Law Courts on Monday. The prosecution alleges that the trio committed a terrorist act by escaping from the prison, which was a threat to national security. Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has hit back at Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi after criticism over his senatorial ambitions in next year’s General Election. President Uhuru Kenyatta is on Wednesday set to elevate Nakuru town to city status. The Head of State will officially grant the Nakuru a city charter during his tour of the county.
