A court has blocked the management of Kakamega High School from collecting Sh21 million from parents for damages caused by a recent dormitory fire. Kakamega Presiding Judge William Musyoka barred the school from collecting Ksh9,823 fine from each of the school’s 2,200 students pending the hearing and determination of a petition filed by a parent. The school board had imposed the charges on parents following a meeting held on November 10, four days after the fire suspected to have been started by some of the students. A one-year-old baby girl stolen from her home in Funyula, Busia county, has finally been found and reunited with her biological mother. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Baby Gladwel Zawadi was rescued after a three-day meticulous operation. The baby was found in Mabatini area within Busia County on Thursday evening where one Electine Obonyo was arrested. Baby Zawadi went missing on November 16. The government has constituted a Vetting Cluster Team to appraise all Kenya Power employees in a cleanup exercise meant to streamline services at the state agency. In a memo, KPLC asked all staffers to disclose personal information such as bank statements, assets, liabilities, and employment details to help the team carry out the vetting exercise. Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has denied existence of “Red Alerts” blocking lawyer Miguna Miguna from returning to Kenya. The Canada-based barrister said on Monday that he was blocked from flying to Nairobi from Berlin, Germany, over “Red Alerts” issued to Air France by Kenyan authorities. Three terror convicts, who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison on Monday, have been arrested. Kahawa Tungu has established that the prisoners, Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda aged 34, Joseph Juma Odhiambo, 30, and Mohammed Ali Abikar, 35, were arrested in Kitui on Thursday. The jailbirds, who were serving jail terms ranging from 15 years to 41 years, are being driven back to Nairobi under tight security. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti has been handed a four-month jail term over contempt of court. Kinoti was sentenced on Thursday by High Judge Anthony Mrima for disobeying orders that required him to return firearms confiscated from businessman Jimmy Wanjigi. Justice Mrima ordered Kinoti be jailed at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison. He is required to surrender to the Prison authorities within seven days. Two remandees who escaped from Kapsoya Police Station in Uasin Gishu County have been re-arrested. Two bomb attacks that hit Kampala, Uganda, on Tuesday morning were executed by three suicide bombers, police have said. In a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said the explosions at a police checkpoint and Parliamentary Avenue left six people dead, the three terrorists and three civilians. 11 people died and several others injured after a bus they were traveling in plunged into River Thura in Embu County on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses said the incident happened at around 8:30 am.
